In the ruined palace gardens of Lordaeron's Capital City, Archimonde's pet Dread Lords meet to discuss their future plans for the Scourge. Balnazzar, Detheroc, and Varimathras are unaware of the Legion's defeat at Mount Hyjal, and having not heard from Archimonde in months, they are starting to get anxious. Detheroc and Varimathras argue that they should abandon the Scourge and return to the Nether, but Balnazzar holds firm, believing that Archimonde will contact them, and that they must remain at their posts. As the meeting winds down, the garden's gates are smashed open, and Arthas approaches the Dread Lords.
