Microsoft to Quit Web Browsers for Mac

So M$ has finally given up on taking over the Mac browser world. Yea well when you have like most of the market you can let 10% of it go, just to keep regulators off your back. So Mac user rejoice un-install your versions IE and now in Safari you will trust.
Guess this means all us web designers now have to get a mac just to make sure all that nice CSS is going to show up right. Argh like I need to get another computer. My GF already thinking I don't need 3, "But baby I have a laptop for surfing and when I want to blog in front of the TV, a desktop for when I need the power, and well that old box over there is a back-end server for testing all my code. So see I really do need them all".

SEATTLE (AP) - Microsoft Corp. (MSFT) said Friday it will no longer develop versions of its popular Web-browsing software for Apple Computer' (AAPL)s Macintosh system, saying Apple's own browsing software is a logical choice for Mac users.

Except for two minor upgrades, Microsoft's Internet Explorer 5 is the last version it will develop for the Mac, said Jessica Sommers, product manager for the software company's Macintosh Business Unit.

It makes more sense for Mac users to use Apple's Safari Web-browser, she said. Although still in beta testing, the browser has already gained attention for its speed and some of its features.

Sommers said Apple is in a better position to create a browser with more features and that offers a smoother experience because "Apple has access to functionality in the (operating system) that Microsoft doesn't."

"They can do things because they're developing on their own (operating system) that we as a third party programmer can't do," she said.
